Shopify Plus Technical Consultant

The technical owner your Plus build needs.

Migrations, headless storefronts, custom apps, B2B architecture. I take the problems agencies quote in quarters and ship them in weeks — one engineer, AI-assisted, accountable to you end to end.

What Plus merchants hire me for

The work that needs more than a theme install. Scoped, architected, and shipped by the same person you talked to on the first call.

01

Migrations & Replatforming

PrestaShop, WordPress, legacy carts and ERP-adjacent stacks — moved to Plus without losing catalog structure, B2B pricing, or SEO equity. Dual import paths so your team approves data before it touches production.

02

Headless Storefronts

Hydrogen and custom Next.js builds on the Storefront API. I maintain my own library of typed, accessible commerce primitives, so builds start from week two, not month two.

03

Custom Apps & Integrations

ERP, PIM, 3PL, payment providers. Queue-backed integration layers with circuit breakers, dead-letter handling, and credential encryption — the parts that fail quietly in most builds.

04

B2B Architecture

Companies, catalogs, price lists, customer-group pricing mapped onto the Plus B2B API correctly. Wholesale and D2C on one store without the hacks.

05

AI Commerce Readiness

When AI agents start buying on your customers’ behalf, your catalog either speaks their language or gets skipped. I make Plus stores agent-ready — UCP profiles, MCP-connected catalogs, conversational checkout — all three layers built and shipped.

06

Performance & Reliability

Rate-limit-aware API clients, per-platform response shaping, observability with Sentry and structured logging. The unglamorous work that keeps checkout up on Black Friday.

Case Study · Replatforming + Multi-Store Sync

PrestaShop → Shopify Plus, without losing a decade of SEO.

A European D2C + B2B brand: multilingual catalog in three languages, customer-group pricing, and three market subfolders of accumulated search equity. I built a full ETL pipeline with a dual import path — direct GraphQL or a Matrixify workbook the client approves in a spreadsheet — plus a live migration cockpit so stakeholders watch every run.

Selected Work

Built, not slideware

Production systems across the Plus stack — component libraries, API layers, agentic commerce, enterprise integrations. Every one shipped solo.

Ways to Work Together

Three engagement models

01

Project Delivery

A defined build — migration, storefront, custom app — scoped, architected, and shipped. Fixed deliverables, weekly demos, documentation written as it is built.

How it runs

ScopeFixed, agreed up front
DemosWeekly, working software
DocsDelivered with the build
02

Fractional Tech Lead

Your standing technical owner. I direct architecture, review vendor and agency work, and take the build tasks that are blocking your internal team.

How it runs

CadenceStanding, flexes with load
ArchitectureOwned end to end
Vendor codeReviewed before merge
03

Audit & Roadmap

A week inside your stack: architecture review, performance and failure-mode analysis, and a prioritized technical roadmap you can execute with anyone — including me.

How it runs

DurationOne week, fixed fee
OutputPrioritized roadmap
CommitmentNone beyond the week

How I Work

From architecture to production stability — one technical owner.

Week 1

Discovery

Mapping your technical landscape — current architecture, data flows, integration surface, and the constraints your team knows but nobody wrote down.

Weeks 1–2

Architecture

Systems end to end — data models, API contracts, checkout extensibility, compliance flows, deployment strategy. Documented before implementation starts.

Weeks 2–8

Build & Ship

Claude Code as an engineering partner, not autocomplete. I direct the implementation, review every line, and demo working software weekly.

Ongoing

Launch & Support

Post-launch QA, performance monitoring, and the long tail nobody wants to own. One technical owner from architecture to production stability.

Next Step

Here's how we begin

Let's talk about what's blocking your roadmap

A 30-minute technical call. You describe the problem; I tell you honestly what it takes.
